New Mexico State Police are investigating a Thursday morning shootout with an armed suspect in which two law enforcement officers and the gunman sustained injuries.
The Roswell Police Department and Chaves County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in social media posts that a police officer and a sheriff's deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shootout. Undersheriff Charles Yslas told the Roswell Daily Record Thursday that the injured deputy, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for three years, was shot in the arm, but was alert and conscious when transported to a hospital in Lubbock.
