LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A Louisville mother is facing multiple charges after police say she crashed her SUV with her child inside while drunk.

LMPD arrested 30-year-old Chalisa Helm Wednesday.

Police said they responded to the 900 block of S 7th Street around 10:24 p.m. Wednesday about an injury accident. Callers told dispatch an SUV had flipped over and hit two other vehicles.

According to an arrest slip, another caller said there was a baby taken out of the SUV.

When police arrived, they found Helm sitting on the sidewalk in a chair with her child.

Police said Helm was slurring her words and was covered in blood.

Upon further investigation, police said they found an open can of beer in the center cup holder of Helm's SUV.

Police again tried to talk with Helm, which is when they noticed
