LEBANON, Ore. - The future of the birth center at Lebanon Community Hospital is now secure, bringing relief to families in the area.

For more than 80 years, the birth center has been a crucial part of Lebanon's community. Earlier this year in May, Samaritan Health Services considered closing its labor, delivery, and emergency surgery services due to high costs.

"That is the one place in the hospital people want to go to, that is one memory they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. And if that is done well, they will go back to that hospital again and again for the rest of their care," said Kevin Mealy, the communications manager for Oregon Nurses Association. (ONA)
