LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A Louisville inmate is facing new charges after he allegedly tried to escape from a courtroom before being arraigned.
Wisam Khalil was set to appear in court Wednesday morning on charges of violating an EPO/DVO and contempt of court.
According to court records, Khalil managed to get out of the hold room and ran out the court doors. He made it to the first floor before being tackled to the ground by two sheriff's deputies.
Khalil is now facing charges of second-degree escape, fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest.
He appeared in court Thursday morning, where his bond was set at $50,000.
Khalil's next court appearance is set for Sept. 5.
