FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — The FBI is investigating a string of fake active shooting calls on college campuses , causing panic among students and draining police resources.

Monday, Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff was one of the targets of these so-called swatters . NAU police dispatch received a call from someone going by Jacob claiming to have seen a man with a rifle walking through Cline Library .

Listening to that 911 call, you can hear the caller pretending to stutter with fear and multiple fake gunshots.

“We, we’re at the Cline Library,” Jacob said in the 911 call. “There’s a man running around with a rifle. We’re at the main entrance under a desk.” The phone call included real panic and gunshot sounds.
