STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s season-opening victory had a bittersweet feel on Thursday night.
The Cowboys defeated visiting UT Martin 27-7 at Boone Pickens Stadium but it may have come at a heavy cost.
Starting quarterback Hauss Hejny engineered two touchdown drives but left after OSU’s third possession with a lower body injury and didn’t return to the game.
The offense wasn’t the same without Hejny’s dual-threat presence, as displayed by the final statistics. With Hejny in the contest, the Cowboys were able to produce 164 yards of offense on three possessions. The final eight drives finished with 195 yards.
Hejny finished with 5-of-10 passing for 96 yards including a 41-yard pass to Shamar Rigby and a 34-yard completion to Terrill Davis.
