LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - On August 20, a man was rescued from a drainage pipe after becoming trapped while attempting to cross the border illegally. In response, the Laredo City Council is initiating discussions on how to prevent similar incidents.

Laredo’s mayor, Dr. Victor Treviño, is seeking a report from the department responsible for the drainage pipes along the riverbank. His goal is to ensure that these pipes are not being used for illegal activities, such as human or drug smuggling. This topic is one of several items scheduled for discussion at the Laredo City Council meeting on September 2.
