SCRANTON, Pa. — It was Tuesday morning inside the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton when staff gathered for a special sendoff for one of their own.

A U.S. Army Veteran turned nurse, Amy Pua, is setting off for one last mission.

"I am donating my kidney to my dad, who is currently on dialysis, and he needed one, a kidney, so I stepped up to the plate," said Pua.

The surgery to help her father get a new kidney came one year after trials and tests to make sure Amy was the perfect match.

"It's been a long process, and they dealt with me for like, almost a year, taking time off and going for blood work and stuff, so they were really supportive," said Pua. "I couldn't even ask for anything better."
