MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Street Festival is kicking off its 17th annual event by closing some roads this Friday. The festival consists of a celebration among the community, culture, and family fun.
Drivers are being asked to plan routes before the festival kicks off on the Labor Day weekend in downtown Mercedes at S. Texas Ave. On Saturday, Aug 30, at 1 p.m., the Texas Street Festival will offer families a memorable experience with carnival rides, wrestling matches or Lucha Libre, a petting zoo, and the popular dinosaur exhibit. There will also be a show-stopping car show featuring classic and custom vehicles, according to its Facebook event.
In addition, the free festival will also feature street food vendors, local artisans, and vendor market booths.
