RAGLEY, La. (KPLC) - A local hero is receiving one of the nation’s top military honors, shining a spotlight on Ragley.
It was exactly 15 years ago today when then-Chief Warrant Officer Jacob Marceaux was deployed in Afghanistan as a tactical pilot in command.
“Getting to experience this 15 years later, it’s almost like the event is happening all over again. In some ways its good, but I am excited and honored,” Marceaux said.
Marceaux and co-pilot, then-captain Timothy Ashcraft, fought off enemy forces wearing American uniforms armed with suicide vests, rocket grenades and heavy machine guns.
For their act of courage, they were awarded one of the highest military honors, the distinguished Flying Cross Medal, presented by former Captain Lisa Pippens.
