EARLE, Ark. - There is more confusion about the finances in a small, eastern Arkansas city.

Earle Mayor Jaylen Smith said a vote Tuesday night to pay the city’s bills failed despite a 4-1 vote. He then told FOX13 it did "legally pass."

Last week, Smith said essential city services were in jeopardy because the city had months of unpaid bills. Smith claimed those outstanding debts meant the city would not be able to pay to fuel up fire engines or garbage trucks.
