Wendi Shaw is a woman from New Jersey with an unusual and heartwarming hobby: she scours thrift stores, both in person and online, searching for collections of old letters. Her favorites? Love letters, often written during wartime, between soldiers and their sweethearts back home.

“All the love and ‘I miss you so much.' It’s better than any fake romantic story you could ever read,” Wendi says. “Some of these letters are full of longing, some even a little spicy. And all in their own handwriting.”

For Wendi, these letters are more than just paper and ink. They're history lessons wrapped in love stories. But her passion doesn’t stop at reading them. Once she’s absorbed their tales, she sets out on a mission: to return these letters to the families they belong to.
