WALTON, Ky. —

Two deputies were shot while serving an arrest warrant Thursday night. The suspected shooter is dead.

It happened just after 10 p.m., when deputies responded to serve an arrest warrant along Service Road. The felony arrest warrant was for a flagrant non-support, child support warrant with a $14,000 bond on it. Advertisement

When they attempted to make entry, they were met with "heavy gunfire."

Two Boone County deputies were hit and taken to the hospital, one by ground and one by AirCare to UC Hospital.

Both deputies were shot multiple times and are in stable condition, with one undergoing surgery, and prognosis so far have been positive. Both are "seasoned veterans" with the department.
