LUMBERTON — The Lumberton girls tennis team swept Fairmont 9-0 in a nonconference match Thursday in Lumberton.

Lumberton (5-0) won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches over Fairmont (0-3)

In singles, Lumberton got 8-0 wins from Charley Whitley over Fairmont’s Gracie Freeman, Josie Lawson over Lily Grainger and Tori Sanchez over Genesis Rameriz. The Pirates also got 8-1 wins as Mackenzie Register beat Emma Jones, Olivia McLamb topped Alicea MacHenry and Lameshea Love defeated Jaelyn Bryant 8-1.

Two of Lumberton’s three doubles wins came by 8-0 scores, with Whitley/Register defeating Freeman/Jones and Lawson/McLamb beating Grainger/MacHenry. Lumberton’s Anhaya Munoz/Paisley Locklear topped Fairmont’s Rameriz/Bryant 8-2.
