The league and competition has changed, but the goal remains the same for Fred Harbinson.

Heading into his 19th consecutive season in charge of the Penticton Vees, the longtime head coach, general manager and team president recognizes this season will be far different than anything he has experienced as the Vees begin their first training as members of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Harbinson recognizes there will be a mountain of challenges to continue the Vees’ success into the WHL, but he loves nothing more than a challenge and believes the team will be successful immediately in its inaugural season in the WHL.

A total of 66 players from across Canada and the U.S. were invited to the Vees’ inaugural WHL training camp, which kicked off Thursday morning at the South Okanagan Events C
