UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 28, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. — TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. — Firefighters from Shasta-Trinity National Forest are working around the clock on the Peak Fire , which has grown to 290 acres since it ignited on Monday. Fire officials stated that the lightning-sparked fire is burning in rugged terrain near the Granite Peak summit.
The fire remains completely uncontained as it spreads north toward Granite Peak, with half of its area within the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Crews have made progress by constructing handlines and dozer contingency lines along the fire's right flank and heel.
Officials added that on Tuesday, 112 personnel are on-site, including three engines, three dozers, and various other resources. The fire is expected to continue spreading due to warmer, drier conditi
