MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A crash late Tuesday night involving a semi-truck killed two people on Interstate 40, police said.
Memphis Police (MPD) said the crash was first reported just after 11 p.m. on I-40 near the Watkins Street exit. FOX13 arrived to find a badly damaged semi-truck and what appeared to be a fire.
Police said a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck with a trailer failed to follow a curve on the interstate, left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge. The crash caused the semi-truck to go up in flames, MPD said.
The driver and a passenger in the truck died, police said.
The crash shutdown the westbound I-40 lanes for several hours.
