California is home to one of the fastest-growing aging populations in the nation, and the state is taking action to ensure older adults and their caregivers thrive.

Family caregivers are the backbone of long-term care. Without them, there wouldn't be enough facilities, doctors or hospitals to meet the needs of an aging population expected to grow significantly in the next two decades.

The California Department of Aging supports these caregivers through programs like In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), which connects nearly 600,000 older adults and people with disabilities to essential care.
