LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Although they trim the branches, a Las Vegas homeowners' association is asking a Vietnam veteran to pay for the damage allegedly caused by a tree’s roots.

Larry McClellan, a Vietnam veteran, said he survived wartime chemical Agent Orange, but the smell coming from the exposed sewer line since June in his bathroom is no cake walk. The problem appeared to stem from roots from a HOA-maintained tree out in front of his house.

“I would say, describe one of your worst nightmares, and you know, it just came true for you,” he said. “I mean, an open sewer in a dwelling you live in. Not exactly my favorite thing to even think about.”
