Cracker Barrel's co-founder has slammed the company's chief executive over plans for a new logo that were abruptly scrapped following a backlash.

"They're trying to modernize to be like the competition—Cracker Barrel doesn't have any competition," Tommy Lowe said in an interview with News Channel 5.

Lowe added that he heard the company's CEO Julie Felss Masino "was at Taco Bell. What's Taco Bell know about Cracker Barrel and country food? They need to work on the food and service and leave the barrel— the logo alone."

The company announced plans last week for a simplified logo featuring only the company's name as part of a wider plan to modernize its restaurants and appeal to younger customers.
