The New York Yankees entered Friday in third place in the American League East. They trail the Boston Red Sox by a half-game for second place and trail the Toronto Blue Jays by four games for the division lead.

The Yankees are 5-15 against the Red Sox and Blue Jays this season. However, they have fared well against lesser opponents. That trend has continued this week as they swept the Washington Nationals and dominated the Chicago White Sox in the first game of their series.

The Yankees cannot control who they play, only how they play against them. Despite the White Sox not playing for much, Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger sent a message to the rest of the division following the team's 10-4 win.

"Nothing's impossible," Bellinger said of the Yankees storming back to win the division,
