A woman’s mother was swindled out of more than $80,000 by scammers using AI-generated videos of “General Hospital” star Steve Burton, according to a recent report shared on Good Morning America .

Vivian Ruvalcaba revealed that her mother, who suffers from bipolar disorder, was targeted by someone creating deepfake videos of Burton claiming he had lost property in Los Angeles wildfires and needed financial assistance.

“I’m sickened by it because it went this far,” Ruvalcaba said in a TikTok video shared by GMA. “Why didn’t I know this? Why didn’t I see what was happening? What did I miss?”
