Desperate holidaymakers abandoned their taxi and walked along the motorway after becoming trapped in standstill traffic whilst heading to the airport for their Greek getaway.

Fearing they would miss their flight, Dean Louca, 37, and his wife Gina, 39, were travelling to Luton Airport on August 26 when their cab got stuck in congestion. The London pair were rushing to catch their departure, but after roughly 20 minutes without any movement, they decided to take drastic action – abandoning their taxi altogether.

They got out of the car and started making their way to the airport on foot, dragging their luggage along the hard shoulder of the M1. Video footage captured by a motorist at the scene shows the moment their desperate desire for a break overcame them.
