A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 3:28 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 4 a.m. for Suffolk County.

Prepare for pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) and wind gusts of up to 30 mph.

"At 3:28 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Patchogue to near Davis Park to 9 miles southwest of Mastic Beach. Movement was northeast at 25 mph," describes the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible."
