STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As part of a larger effort to tackle overcrowding and reduce class sizes amid a growing student population, hundreds of new school seats are on the way to Staten Island.

New schools are being constructed throughout the borough, while other seats may be acquired by leasing or buying and renovating space. Some schools even built additions onto existing buildings in an effort to create more room.
