Budget supermarket chain Aldi has revealed it will be the first to implement a new £13.02 minimum wage from Monday, September 1st.
The retailer has reassessed its hourly payment structure and will boost staff wages for shop floor workers from £12.75 per hour to £13.02 per hour starting in September.
Back in July, Aldi had declared it would raise wages to £13 per hour from September, but has now confirmed it is adding an extra 2p per hour to 'reinforce its pledge to never be beaten on pay'.
The supermarket claims it is the first grocery chain to provide this baseline rate, which also rises to £13.95 with length of service.
Across London, the new rates are climbing from £14.05 per hour to £14.35, rising to £14.66 with length of service, reports the Express .
