Downtown Marion has a place to find fresh Hawaiian dishes.

Ono Poke Express opened at 19 N. Main St. in Marion in late August. The small space is next to the former location of McDowell Local.

The restaurant will offer poke bowls for take-out only, co-owner Brooke Hudgins said.

For those not familiar, poke (pronounced poh-kay) is an Asian inspired Hawaiian dish that combines fresh fruits and vegetables with different choices of protein, multiple sauces and multiple crunches, according to Brooke and Josh Hudgins, the owners of the business.

The word poke means “to slice” or “cut crosswise into pieces” in Hawaiian.
