Uncertain over the health and effectiveness of Liam Hendriks and deciding not to re-sign Kenley Jansen last winter, the Red Sox were in the market for a closer for 2025.

Fairly early in the offseason, they came to an agreement with veteran Aroldis Chapman to a one-year deal for $10.75 million last December.
