Tom Cleverley is keen to ensure the continued development of 19-year-old Plymouth Argyle midfielder Caleb Roberts into a player who can be a contender to regularly start games.
Cleverley praised the Pilgrims' academy graduate for his 'really good performance' in the Carabao Cup second round tie away to Swansea City on Tuesday night, which the Pilgrims drew 1-1 before they lost 5-3 on penalties.
It was the first time this season Roberts had made a starting appearance, after previously coming off the bench in the away League One games against Bolton Wanderers and Lincoln City earlier in the month.
Roberts has started eight games for Argyle overall, but six of them have been in cup ties, including the midweek match against Swansea.
Cleverley, who has made clear he wants to add another m
