A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a man in Kirkmuirhill who has been named as Scott Boyd.
Police were alerted to a report of two men found injured in the Braeside Crescent area at around 4.45am on Wednesday, August 27.
A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead within a property at the scene.
Following a post mortem examination, his death is being treated as murder.
The family of Scott Boyd have been informed of the tragedy.
Heartbroken friends and family took to social media to pay tribute to Scott, describing him as a "cracking wee lad" who is understood to have been from Lanark originally and also lived in Glasgow .
Locals told the Daily Record that a man was heard "screaming for help" in the incident on Wednesday.
