A murder investigation has been launched following the tragic death of a man in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were dispatched to Braeside Crescent in Kirkmuirhill following a report of two men found injured at around 4.45am on Wednesday August 27.

A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead within a property at the scene. He can be named as Scott Boyd and his family are aware.

Following a post mortem examination, Scott's death is now being treated as murder.

A 35-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Police Scotland say an 'extensive investigation' is ongoing to trace the individual responsible, as they urge anyone with information to get in touch as it could be 'vital'.
