Holyrood authorities have confirmed no hidden device has been "found" following the charging of MSP Colin Smyth over allegations of a concealed camera in a Parliament toilet.
Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone issued this statement after police conducted a thorough "sweep" of the building. Smyth was charged by police on 5th August for possessing indecent images.
The Record revealed yesterday that he is also facing charges of installing a camera in a toilet within the Scottish Parliament building.
In a joint statement, Johnstone and Parliament chief executive David McGill emailed those using the building today: "You will have read the deeply concerning reports in the media this morning and we understand the unease and anxiety this will be causing you.", reports the Daily Record .
