SALEM, Ohio (WJW) — A northeast Ohio man's $50 gamble on a scratch-off ticket paid off when he won $50,000 a year for 20 years. That’s $1 million.

However, according to an Ohio Lottery press release, the Salem man won't take home even half the amount of cash. According to the release, the winner chose the cash option of $500,000. After mandatory federal and state taxes, totaling 28 percent, he will take home about $360,000.

The winning ticket was a Billion scratch-off ticket purchased at Robert’s Country Store in Salem.

Billion is a $50 Scratch-Off with a top prize of $1 million a year for life.

According to the Ohio Lottery, the overall odds of winning are 1 in 4.10. The game has a top prize of $1 million a year for life.
