RICHFIELD, Ohio (WJW) -- Akron Public Schools' Garfield Community Learning Center called off its Friday night high school football game against Revere High School due to an infectious illness among Revere's student-athletes.

According to Revere Local Schools Superintendent Dan White, Akron Garfield declined to play the Friday, Aug. 29, game due to cases of hand, foot and mouth disease among Revere players. But those athletes had been "cleared to play" by medical personnel, he said.
