CAMDEN – Jorge Maldonado’s family, seeking a better life, came to Camden from Puerto Rico in 1994, when he was 7.
He said his mother – whom he described in an interview with TAPinto Camden as “very outgoing” – stayed at home and raised him and his three brothers, while his “workhorse” father was employed in a warehouse and later became a truck driver. Maldonado also said that, even before becoming a member of Camden Academy Charter High School’s first graduating class, he thought he knew what he wanted to do with his professional life.
“I wanted to become a lawyer. Then, that shifted into accounting later in high school, and something in entrepreneurship,” he said.
Things did not work out that way.
“We had gone through our own financial hardships on and off,” he said of his family.
