Founded in the late 1990s—around 1996, according to long-time members—and active in the community since at least 2000, the Alberni Valley Vintage Tractor Club has been a fixture of the Alberni Valley’s heritage scene for nearly three decades.
The club is perhaps best remembered by fairgoers for its threshing machine demonstrations and tractor pulls at the Alberni District Fall Fair, where crowds gathered to see vintage farm machinery come back to life. In addition to threshing displays, club members organized parade entries and tractor exhibits, proudly showing the Valley’s farming past.
"It's not just about tractors," says Wayne Smith, president of the vintage tractor club. "It's about keeping the Valley's farming history alive for the next generation."
