Aberdeen have landed ties against Shakhtar Donetsk and AEK Athens in the revamped group stage of the Conference League .
The Dons entered the Europa League play-off round as a result of winning the Scottish Cup last season but have dropped into UEFA's third tier competition after losing out to FCSB of Romania 5-2 over two legs in the play-off round.
Jimmy Thelin 's side are appearing in the group stage of the Conference League for the second time. They will take on Sparta Prague, AEK Athens of Greece and Cypriot side AEK Larnaca on the road and will host Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, Ligue 1 high-flyers Strasbourg and Noah of Armenia at home.
The first round of matches will take place on Thursday, October 6 with the running order of fixtures set to be determined
