Older than three provinces and two territories, London’s historic Blackfriars Bridge is celebrating its 150th birthday this weekend with music, art – and a big cake.
Organized by the Blackfriars Neighbourhood Association, the “Blackfriars Bridge bash” will be held Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. This is the second year the bash is being held and it is open to everyone.
John Fyfe-Millar, co-chair of the association and chair of the event, said the celebration is a way to experience the storied bridge in a different way than normal.
“The original thought process behind it was that the bridge itself is that iconic piece that goes with the Blackfriars community,” he said. “We see it as more than just a vehicular bridge, and so we wanted to do something to celebrate it, along with the communit
