Girls tennis: Cabrillo 5, Lompoc 4

The Cabrillo girls tennis team scored a big non-league win Wednesday, defeating Lompoc Valley rival and three-time reigning CIF Central Section Division 3 champion Lompoc at Cabrillo.

The Conquistadores won four of the six singles matches. Geneva Walker, Lorena Febo and Emily Fulghum dropped just six games combined. Sara Barajas also won in straight sets, 6-3 7-6 (5).

Jayden Becerra and Leah Salavarria gave Cabrillo its doubles point with an 8-2 win in an eight-game pro set.

At press time, Cabrillo was scheduled to play Orcutt Academy at Hancock College Thursday at 3 p.m.
