Police are searching for a driver who fled a crash in Alexandria.

Main Street is closed in the town following the one vehicle crash that occurred around 10.10am today (Friday, August 29).

Officers said the driver fled the scene following the crash, before police arrived. A search has been launched for the man.

The driver is believed to have been wearing a blue anorak and denim trousers. The road is closed between Wylie Avenue and Place of Bonhill.

ScotRail reported the railway line was closed through the area this morning after a vehicle struck a bridge between Alexandria and Renton. The closure affected services between Balloch and Dumbarton Central.
