A popular city centre Japanese restaurant has been placed on the market as it prepares to close for the last time.

The team behind Japanese bar and restaurant Mikaku, on Queen Street, previously confirmed the venue will close its door s for the final time on Sunday, September 14. Known for its immersive “slice of Tokyo” experience, themed interiors, soft play for the kids and annual Ramen Week, Mikaku has been a staple of Glasgow’s hospitality landscape since it opened in 2018.

The team behind it say the decision to close comes as they shift focus to their next chapter – the launch of Clydeside Containers, a new riverside street food and drink destination opening on Glasgow’s waterfront.

Director Nathan Sparling previously told Glasgow Live: “Closing Mikaku was not an easy decision.
