Regina city council will study the possibility of setting up a designated homeless encampment, shifting away from its current policy of dismantling tent sites across the city.
On Wednesday, councillors voted unanimously in favour of Ward 6 Coun. Victoria Flores’ motion to direct administration to prepare a report on the idea. The report is due Nov. 12 and will outline potential sites, required bylaw changes, and the financial resources needed for operation.

“Our current approach is just moving people from one place to another. It’s clearly not working, and we’ve been asked to do better,” Flores said following the vote. “We can’t just have an ‘out-of-sight, out-of-mind’ approach.”
