WALTON, Ky. — Two Boone County Sheriff's Office deputies are in the hospital after they were shot multiple times while trying to arrest a wanted man in Walton.

Investigators said after 10 p.m. Thursday, the deputies breached the door to a home on Service Road when the suspect began firing at officers.

The two injured deputies were taken to UC Medical Center, where the Sheriff's Office said they're in stable condition.

The Sheriff's Office said the SWAT Team tried to get the suspect, but he was uncooperative. After trying gas canisters, a drone was sent into the home, where the suspect was found unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
