WALTON, KY (WXIX) -Two deputies are injured after a shooting took place in Walton, KY Thursday night, in which the SWAT team was called, according to Major Phillip Ridgell with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Major Ridgell says that the shooting took place on Service Road.

A suspect has barricaded himself, and the SWAT team was called, Major Ridgell said.

One deputy was airlifted to UC Medical Center, and another was taken by ground to the same hospital.

Major Ridgell says that Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge and Boone County Sheriff Michael A. Helmig are at the hospital.

The major says both of them are in stable condition.

Residents in the nearby area have been told to evacuate.
