Juvenile shoplifter possibly coerced into prostitution: At about 4:44 p.m. Aug 20 in the 700 block of Rainier Avenue South, an officer was dispatched to a shoplift in progress. A female juvenile suspect was detained by loss prevention, and they wanted the subject to be trespassed. During questioning of the suspect and later the suspect’s grandparent, the officer suspected that there needed to be a further investigation to determine if the female was being coerced into prostitution or something else by a male she was affiliated with. The officer released the juvenile to her grandparent after she was trespassed from the store, but determined there needs to be further investigation regarding her well-being.
