Why are flags at half-staff in North Carolina?

Stein ordered flags to fly at half-staff through Aug. 31 in honor of the victims who lost their lives and those who were injured in "a senseless act of violence" committed Aug. 27 at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota., according to a news release from the state.

“I am heartbroken by the news of the terrible shooting in Minneapolis," Stein said in the release. "Anna and I send our condolences to the students, teachers and families at Annunciation Catholic School. Too many of our young people are being killed by gun violence. It does not have to be this way.”
