Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot and killed in Vaughan, Ont., Wednesday.

Officers responded to a call about an injured person at a commercial premises near Langstaff Road and Jane Street around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, York Regional Police said in a news release Friday. They found a man "inside one of the units" suffering from gunshot wounds who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as 41-year-old Deuvane Donald Francis of Toronto. Police said they believe the shooting was targeted.
