A major streetcar line connecting parts of Toronto to the Canadian National Exhibition, which is in its last weekend, is out of service due to an electrical issue. But the TTC is providing replacement buses and says the issue won't reduce transit capacity this weekend.

On Thursday evening, transit agents identified an electrical cable that was shorting out near King and Shaw streets, TTC spokesperson Stuart Green said. The cable is in a junction box that provides power to the 511 Bathurst streetcar, he said.

While the cause of the issue is being investigated, Green said, "what we do know is that because of all the extra streetcar service that we had out for the CNE, it was stressing this particular junction box."
