DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Waterloo man received a 14-year federal prison sentence for attempting to entice a minor into illegal sexual activities.

Gabriel Keith Usher, 47, began communicating online with an undercover officer in October 2023, believing the officer was a 15-year-old. Usher professed love and suggested they engage in sexual acts.

Law enforcement arrested him when he arrived at a planned meeting location.

In October 2024, Usher was also sentenced to five years in state prison in Black Hawk County for unrelated charges involving minors.

After his federal prison term, Usher will serve a 10-year supervised release and must register as a sex offender.

The Iowa City Police Department investigated this case.
