In anticipation, the French Quarter Management District is touting new safety measures meant to keep visitors and tourists safe.
In recent months, the FQMD has worked with local law enforcement to increase the police presence in the Quarter. Officials say the historic neighborhood now has 24/7 patrols. Those supplemental police patrols have reportedly added an estimated 10,500 extra hours annually. That is in addition to the normal patrols provided by the New Orleans Police Department.
Improvements to roads in and around the French Quarter have also been made.
